George Joseph, Managing Partner

A commerce graduate and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, George is the founder of GJA with over four decades of experience in practice and industry ranging from manufacturing to financial consultancy. George specializes in project finance consultancy, feasibility studies, business modelling and tax advisory and representation. George is also an arbitration specialist and serves on the panels of the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange.

P. Rajagopal, Partner

Rajagopal is a science graduate and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Having worked with Varma & Varma, Chartered Accountants and Kochi Refineries Ltd., Rajagopal was elevated as a partner in 1994. He brings with him nearly three decades of experience in internal and external audits and direct and indirect taxation. He has also successfully completed the NISM Series VI Depository Operation Certification. He heads the Assurance business line of GJA.

Shaji Varghese, Partner

Shaji spent over 20 years in senior management level with AV Thomas & Co. before joining the firm as partner. He is a science graduate and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. With over three decades of experience, Shaji’s core expertise is in strategic consulting, corporate governance and designing and implementing systems and procedures. He acts as advisor to a number of family businesses helping them professionalise their organisations and in their succession planning.

Umesh L. Bhat, Partner

Umesh is a commerce graduate and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has also been awarded a Diploma in Information Systems Audit from the ICAI. Umesh has also qualified as a Registered Valuer (Securities & Financial Assets) from the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India. Having trained in GJA, Umesh was elevated as a partner in 2002. He heads the Direct Taxation business line of GJA and carries over two decades of experience. His expertise lies in internal and external audits, direct taxation and valuations.

Reuben Joseph, Partner

A commerce graduate and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Reuben was elevated as a partner in 2006 after training with GJA and having worked with Ernst & Young in India. With nearly two decades of experience, Reuben has been awarded a Diploma in Information Systems Audit from the ICAI. He has received certification from the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India both as an Insolvency Professional and as a Registered Valuer (Securities & Financial Assets). His areas of expertise include internal audits, indirect taxation, valuations and business process outsourcing.

Allen Joseph, Partner

Having trained in GJA, Allen was elevated as a partner in 2012. He has also worked with the taxation services department of Ernst & Young in India. Allen is a commerce graduate and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has also been certified as an IFRS professional by the ICAI. With over a decade of experience, Allen’s areas of expertise include corporate advisory services, external audits and direct taxation.

Raphael Sharon, Partner

Apart from his training in GJA, Raphael has worked with ACS which is a group company of Xerox as well as with JDNT & Associates, Chartered Accountants. He joined the firm as a partner in 2015. Raphael is a commerce graduate and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. With over a decade of experience, Raphael’s areas of expertise include internal and external audits, direct and indirect taxation and corporate advisory services covering the gamut of foreign exchange laws, SEZ laws and start-up advisory.

N. Vijayakumar, Principal – Indirect Taxes

Vijayakumar is a science graduate and an advocate. He spent 33 years in government service with the Central Excise Department, Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence all over India. Post his retirement from government service, he enrolled as an advocate with the High Court of Kerala and started focus on his core area of expertise, indirect taxes. At GJA, he heads the indirect taxes practice with his primary focus on resolving legacy service tax and excise matters, customs cases and most recently, developing strategies around GST.

Godwin Thomas, Manager – Risk Advisory

Godwin Thomas has a decade of experience in the fields of corporate management, accountancy, audit, regulatory compliances and risk management. At GJA, he handles the risk advisory and regulatory compliance business line. Before joining GJA, he was associated with Muthoot Finance Ltd., India’s leading gold finance company gaining experience in the field of corporate management, finance management and accounting. He is a commerce graduate and has an intermediate qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and completed his training from GJA as well.
